Edward J. Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Jordan , graduated from New Milford Junior High School in June 1935.

He enlisted in the Army Air Force at Los Angles, Cal. ,in June 1942, and was called for basic training at Santa Ana ,Cal., in February, 1943. He received training at Thunderbird Field, Phoenix, Arizona, San Antonio, Texas San Marcos, Texas, Kingman, Arizona, and Lowry Field, Denver, Colorado . He graduated from Combat Crew Training School at Mountain Home Air Field in Idaho, and was assigned to his crew at Lincoln, Nebraska, as Armorer Gunner.

Edward and his crew took off in a B-24-J Liberator Bomber(HEAVY) from Topeka, Kansas, to Grenier Field, New Hampshire, and then overseas in the same ship, September 1944. He landed in Italy and was assigned to the 15 th Army Air Force, 455 th Bomb Group, 742 nd Bomb Squadron. He took part in twenty-seven missions, and was killed in action December 20, 1944, with the same crew, when the plane crashed into a mountain after completion of their last mission and on the return to their base.

Edward was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge and Presidential Citation, two Air Medals with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart. He was buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Bari , Italy , on December 24, 1944.
